Lenten Lights B
This afternoon on my way home I stopped by the Greenhills Library and caught the last of the day’s sun on “The Readers.” Writing and reading are among the enduring ways human beings share wisdom and relationships across time and space. The figures remind me of my daughter and of my Grandpa Campbell (mostly the hat) who never met.
On weekend visits I saw my Grandpa study his Bible with a large magnifying glass in preparation for Sundays. I learned about loving the stories of God’s love and light, in part, by taking in his consistent and disciplined study. Lenten light falling on these readers shows a relational story of the power and beauty of reading sacred texts across time.
